The main event for me was getting my first tattoo. I had been thinking about it for the longest time and one of my friends finally encouraged me to just plunge and do it, so I did.
And it is absolutely perfect.
The way it turned out wasn't how I pictured it, but I love it SO MUCH MORE. My artist was really awesome and I pretty much let him freehand the symbol. I trusted him.
This tattoo is just...everything I wanted and more. I love the placement. And I love the meaning behind it.
The Deathly Hallows is a tale from Harry Potter about 3 brothers. One dying for power, the other dying for a lost love, and the last who greets death as an old friend. The words "All was well" are the last sentence in the series.
I chose that because I was making an adult decision to get a piece of my childhood permanently inked on me. "All was well" marks the ending of Harry Potter, and the ending of my childhood because I'm *officially* not a teenager anymore.
The triangle and circle are the al-anon symbol which looks like this:

When I first read the Deathly Hallows and saw that symbol, my jaw dropped. Al-anon is a 12 step program for people affected by someone else's alcoholism or drug abuse. I've been apart of that program since I was 13 years old, my parents and grandparents being my qualifiers for it. The ONLY difference in this symbol is the line in the middle. Without the line, its the Al-anon symbol.
Alateen (Al-anon for teenagers) saved my life. Al-anon is what got my mom to get back on her feet. Divorce my dad (which was something that needed to be done because he was a drug addict) and go back to college. This program saved my mom too.
I just love everything about this tattoo. I know it will represent who I am for the rest of my life. And if anyone thinks I'm a nerd or whatever...they can s my d. Its beautiful.
