These little town blues are melting away

So, I can finally right a blog about my DREAM pilgrimage (vacation) to New York last month.

Can I just say, oh my god. I loved every minute I was there. I even loved it when I got lost in Brooklyn then had to run through Times Square (in flip flops) to get to my broadway show on time. My foot is still messed up from that but man, it was still worth it.

This was the longest flight I had ever been on. I watched two movies, listened to music, and twiddled my thumbs for nearly six hours.

The second we got off the plane, I saw a Victoria's Secret in the airport and I cracked up.

We were traveling with a family friend who does business in New York, and he was gracious enough to arrange a driver to come and pick us up and that was probably one of my favorite parts of the trip. The man's name was Carlos, and he pointed out areas we're Spider-man was filmed, talked about the bridges he was driving us on, took us on the "scenic" route so that we could get a full view of the city. It was awesome. I get really teary about things, and this was the first time of the trip where I cried, haha.

We stayed in this hotel in Times Square called the W hotel, and it was boujy and amazing. There was a waterfall in the lobby, a bar/night area, and a sushi restaurant on the same floor. On our last night there we are at the restaurant and it was so good. The location of the hotel was spectacular. We were in the heart of the theater district, right across the street from Starbucks, and it was easy to find. I'm terrible with directions, so this was perfect in helping me NOT get lost since I did end up going off on my own several times.

I also stole so, so many samples of bar soap from here.

We did a lot of tourist-y things and saw SO many broadway shows. The best thing about the city was it was damn near impossible to get lonely. I saw shows by myself while my family went and did other things, or saw different shows. Its just...indescribable. The broadway experience was a dream come true to me. I met Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad and the picture I took with him is the happiest picture of me in existence. I don't want to recap every show I saw, but Wicked was on my bucket list. I'd seen it at Pantages in Hollywood when I was in high school, and I had totally fallen in love with the story because I related so much to the main characters. Well. I had this huge thing where I wanted to get dressed up and get my picture taken in front of the Gershwin theater because it's all dedicated to wicked.  That day that I was seeing it, my family and I went to the Statue of Liberty and on the way back to manhattan we got on a subway in the wrong direction. This led to us ending up on Brooklyn, and me going to my "bucket list" wicked experience NOT dressed up, but sweaty and looking like I just got off a plane from California. Lol. I still saw wicked on Broadway though. So it counts.

We ate food. It was cool. I didn't really care about food. Except the food in little Italy was the best food of my life. But anyway.  I wanted to spend my money on Broadway shows and souvenirs. I bought a Tiffany's bracelet on 5th avenue and it was a dream. I'd lusted after this bracelet for years, and the experience at Tiffany's was crazy. That place is huge, has so many workers (including a doorman, and a person running each of their three elevators), and it was down the street from a Victoria's Secret that was massive. I talked to the manager on duty at the time and she told me I should just transfer there.

I'll write a separate blog about our tourist spots we went to later. Those were just as phenomenal, but i don't have those pictures on my iPad right now. Until later!  Thanks for reading.
